Introduction

Stretton Methodist Church is one of eleven Methodist churches in the Burton on Trent Circuit. Our congregation is welcoming and friendly and our mission is centred on the belief that everyone is valued and loved by God.

Our main worship service is on Sunday mornings at 10.00am. and includes a mixture of traditional and modern styles. Our Lighthouse Sunday School meets during the service and a creche facility is also provided.

The premises have recently been redeveloped to further enable our vision, which is to witness to Jesus in service to the community. Each Tuesday morning the premises are open from 9.30am to 11.00am for coffee - a time when many local people get together to chat and catch up with village news in a friendly atmosphere. On Tuesday afternoons we run a well attended Pram Club on the church premises from 1.30pm to 3.00pm and our Friendship Circle meets on alternate Thursday evenings at 7.30pm for a varied programme of activities, including speakers, meals, trips and other special events. The premises are offered as a resource to the whole community and are currently used by several groups including Brownies, Weightwatchers, an Art Group and a Tai Chi class. It is also possible to hire the premises on a one-off basis for Birthday parties etc.

We have a close relationship with the local Anglican Church, St Mary's, and meet together weekly for prayer, as well as working together on outreach projects such as children's holiday clubs and 2009's Walk National Forest Mission.

The church also has a busy programme of social events to which all are welcome, including recently, for example, concerts by local choirs, a car treasure hunt, a spud and pud lunch, an 'Open All Hours' Bazaar and a Safari Pudding evening.

In summary, Stretton Methodist Church is a lively and active fellowship which takes seriously its role in the community. We believe God has put us here to enhance the life of the village and its people as well as to celebrate and share his love in our worship and witness.
